Notre Dame de la Guarde sits atop a hill overlooking the old port of Marseille. You can’t miss it when you strolling around the shops and restaurants. When we visited we decided to take the walking tour route (i think we walked 10,000 miles on this trip). It’s a long walk up a hill through residential areas. It’s a great walk – just long… and steep. The cathedral is filled with artwork representing all sorts of ships and sailboats. There are also different models of all types of boats hanging from the ceiling by strings. It’s a unique cathedral to visit and a great view of the city and surrounding Mediterranean. I’m going to go ahead and recommend finding a bus or car to take you up there… Did i mention it’s a long, steep walk?
